QuikClot Combat Gauze
The hemostatic dressing trusted by the U.S. military
When bleeding is life-threatening, seconds matter. QuikClot Combat Gauze® is a kaolin-impregnated hemostatic dressing designed to help control severe bleeding fast—and it's the hemostatic dressing of choice of the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) for the U.S. Department of Defense. If you're building an IFAK, trauma kit, range bag, or vehicle med kit, this is the gauze the professionals carry.
How it works
Combat Gauze is a sterile, nonwoven gauze impregnated with kaolin, an inorganic mineral. According to the manufacturer, kaolin activates Factor XII, which accelerates the body's own natural clotting cascade to help form a robust clot at the wound site. It contains no botanicals or animal-derived materials, and it uses the same packing and placement technique as standard gauze—so if you've trained on regular wound packing, you already know how to use it.
Why professionals choose Combat Gauze
- CoTCCC recommended and the DOD's hemostatic dressing of choice
- Kaolin technology works with the body's natural clotting process
- Same technique as standard gauze — intuitive to apply under stress
- X-ray detectable strip for easy identification during imaging

- Five-year shelf life for long-term kit readiness
