The reference card is not a new idea. Any time people have wanted to retain critical, dense material that they would want to double check in a stressful environment, they have recorded or written it down. Reference cards have taken all sorts of different shapes and forms from writing on bare skin with a permanent marker to ringed notebooks. Having been in the field, frustrated with excruciatingly small instructions that are either damaged by water, difficult to read, or require mental math to convert gallons to liters, or quarts to milliliters - we personally wanted a solution to take this guess work out of the equation. So we started simple: write it down. Have the material pre-recorded, so you’re not seeking it our or taxing yourself when you’re not at your sharpest point mentally. From there we refined this material - it’s easy to put too much information on these cards, where it detracts away from what is critical in the moment. We refined this information down to a few key categories:

The dosages provided on the Water Data Card Family of products are in accordance and alignment with the dosages as recommended by the CDC and EPA for safe water preparation. Please note that these concentrations and doses are considerably higher than other manufactured options (Aquatabs, Aquamira, H2gO) and should be treated accordingly. Cana Provisions does not recommend the use of household bleach as your primary water treatment method due to the varying concentrations of bleach and its degradation/decomposition over time. Follow all manufacturers directions and personal protective equipment for the safe handling of bleach. Do not drink bleach. Your water treatment is your responsibility.
